My Booktube-a-thon 2018 TBR

This year will be my second time participating in the Booktube-a-thon, a read-a-thon created by Ariel Bissett. It starts July 30th – August 5th

It’s just so much fun even for those who don’t have a booktube channel. You can just participate in the reading challenges, on the Twitter reading sprint or on Bookstragram which is how I mostly participated last year.

The point of this read-a-thon is just to read and have fun while doing it.

So here is my TBR…

Challenge 1| is to let a coin toss decide your first read, but I’m going to leave that for last. I’m going to tell you what seven books I want to read and then I’ll let a coin decide which one is my first read.

Challenge 2| is to read a book about something you want to do…

Well, I decided to read ‘The Guernsey Literary &Potato Peel Pie Society’  by Mary Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrons, for this challenge. This books is all about writing, and that’s something that I really want to do in the near future.

Challenge 3| is to read and watch a book to film adaptation…

I was undecided on what to read for this challenge. I really wanted to read and watch ‘The Darkest Minds’, because while looking online I saw that the adaptation would be releasing August 3rd – but to my disappointment I found out that it doesn’t come out in the UK cinemas until August 10th – so this book was a no go.

I looked into other books to film adaptations and finally decided to read ‘Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them – The Original Screenplay‘ by J.K. Rowling and then re-watch the movie.

A screenplay should be pretty quick to read, so, if I manage to read it on the 30th I can watch the adaptation in the 31st which is Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling’s birthday. That would be an amazing way to end my Harry Potter month I have going on. This is the challenge I’m most excited about. Though it all depends on the coin toss 🤞

Challenge 4| is to read a book with GREEN on the cover…

I was going to be cheeky and read a John Green book, you know, because his name is Green…but while looking at my shelf and my already existing TBR I decide to go with the poetry collection ‘Death of a Naturalist‘ by Seamus Heaney.

I thought it would be good to have different formats in my TBR, and the tittle of it seems naturally fitting.

Challenge 5| is to read a book while wearing the same hat the whole time…

I don’t know what to do about this challenge. I don’t really want to choose a specific book to read with a hat. I think I will just go with the flow and then later on just read whatever book with a hat.

Challenge 6| is to read a book with a beautiful spine…

I decide to go with ‘The Accidental Pirates Voyage to Magical North’ by Claire Fayers.

It’s spine is quite minimalist yet quite beautiful in my opinion. I’m a sucker for gold lettering, specially with dark backgrounds.

This book is a middle-grade so I’m hoping that it’s going to be a quick read.

Challenges 7| is to read seven books…

This is the biggest challenege of them all and I’m going to try my hardest to do that this year.

So far I mentioned four books – well the other three books I want to read are…

‘The Darkest Minds’ by Alexandra Bracken – I mean just because I can’t watch the film adaptation during the Booktube-a-thon doesn’t mean that I can’t read it and watch the film when it does comes out.

‘Juniper Lemons Happiness Index’ by Julie Israel – this we the Booktube-a-thon book of last year. If we wanted we could all have read this book together during the Booktube-a-thon, but I never got around to it last year, so, I’m just going to reading this year.

‘#1 Teen Titans Go! Titans, Together!’ Comic I got recently. The Teen Titans Go! Movie is coming out in August 3rd, and I thought it could be an insanely quick read for the read-a-thon – also it has a a chapter with Scooby in it, and I been reading the new ‘Scooby Apocalypse’ comics lately so I thought it could be fun to see the regular old gang again. My niece is pretty excited about this movie so I’m getting excited with her.

Okay, so now for the coin toss challenge, I’m going to make it between…

Fantastic Beast (heads)

vs

The Darkest Minds (Tails)

Yay! Fantastic Beasts it is.
