Mid-Year Reading stats | Mid-Year Freak Out Tag 2018

June is over so I wanted to go over my books reading stats from the last 6 months – and the Mid-Year Freak out Tag ( I believe that the original creators are IsThatChami and Earl Grey Books) has been all over booktube so I thought I would join in just for fun. Since both things are pretty similar-ish I thought it would better to combine them together, instead of making 2 different posts about the same thing.

So here I go…

Some of the questions for this tag asks to pick one book, but what book reader out there can pick only one book? So, I tried my hardest to only go up to 3 books for some of the questions…I might have failed.

1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2018.

2. Best Sequel you’ve read so far in 2018.

I’m not sure if these count as sequels, but it turns out I haven’t read any sequels yet, so they will have to do.

3. New release you haven’t read yet, but want to.

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year.

5. Biggest disappointment.

  • ‘Zenith’ by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings – I had such hope hope for this book but it read like a first draft to me.

6. Biggest surprise.

7. Favorite new author (debut or new to you).

8. Newest fictional crush.

  • Bowen from ‘Ocean Light’ by Nalini Singh – In this series the Changellings and the Psy are the ‘strongest’ around, so, reading about a human who’s so strong and so sure of he’s self was amazing, and he’s super hot.
  • Damien from the Slater Brother’s by L.A. Casey – I knew that Damien was a hot guy from the beggining, but he’s so romantic too, by the end of his book I was like melted butter.
  • Art3mites from ‘Ready Player One’ by Ernest Cline – Art3mites is such a bad-ass character, being one of the few female players in the book that we meet I felt that she was an amazing representation of female gamers. She’s smart, independent and very kick-ass.

9.Newest favourite character.

Circe from ‘Circe’ by Madeline Miller- She’s the most amazing witch I ever read about. She made me remember my childhood – when I pretended to be a witch – making potions and spells in the woods near my grandmother’s house.

10. Book that made you cry.

L.A. Casey’s books made me cry so hard this half-year – both ‘Damien’ and ‘Alannah’ made me sob like a baby at times. It’s no surprise, L.A. Casey’s book always made me laugh and cry my eyes out at the same time.

11. Book that made you happy.

‘Children of Blood and Bone’ by Tomi Adeyemi

‘My One and Only’ by Alanea Alder

12. Favourite book to film adaptation you saw this year.

NONE!!! I think this year I only watched ‘Ready player One’ by Stephen Spielberg and that was a flop for me, like most adaptaions usually are – nothing beats the book.

13. Favourite review you’ve written this year.

‘Annihilation’ by Jeff VanderMeer – This book was so different from what I usually read that writing a review for it was very interesting, I had consider things in the book that I wasn’t used to consider and it actually made it fun to write.

14. Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year.

I bought so many beautiful books this year already..

‘Circe’ by Madeline Miller

‘Children of Blood and Bone’ by Tomi Adeyemi

‘The Surface Breaks’ by Louise O’Neil

‘Legendary’ by Stephanie Garber

‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’ by J.K, Rowling 20th anniversary house edition.

15. What books do you need to read by the end of the year.

ALL THE BOOKS…I want to read so many books this year, but I really don’t like to make TBR because they put me off reading, so I feel that if I make any kind of list it would feel too much like a TBR so I’m just going to say I want to read them all…the easy way out
